The Church of the Pietà, property of the namesake Archconfraternity is part of the complex consisting of the hall from the Sacristy Section, the Oratory and some minor environments. Located in the historic center of Fermo, the church assumes importance due to the presence of tempera floral decorations on the pilasters that mark distinctly the architectural part of the walls, frieze and paintings around the vault. Of particular merit is the choir in the counter-façade supported by corbels decorated with stucco and bordered by a parapet articulated by a sequence of balustrades.
The complex has suffered damages following seismic clusters in October 2016 that highlighted the constructive deficiencies, generating an evident cracking pattern.
To date, restoration and conservative rehabilitation works are underway involving refurbishing and grouting using the “one-to-one replacement” technique of internal and external cracks and laying metal tie-rods at the height of the internal aisle for the purpose of stiffening the structure.
The church will be functional on the occasion of the Christmas holidays.
